You deserve confidence in your FRP equipment.

Desalination and Seawater

Are you looking for renewable sources of water? As the world’s population expands, so does the demand for water for consumption, farming and industry. As the need for renewable sources of fresh water continues to grow, desalination has become a very attractive method to meet the shortage.

Where carbon steel and stainless steel struggle with corrosion concerns, fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) is a natural material solution for seawater services. In smaller diameters, system pressures approaching 2,000 PSI can be achieved in seawater transport pipelines. FRP performs better than all other materials for handling fluids with chlorides in their composition. Maverick has inspected many seawater systems in operation for over 30 years and found them to have substantial remaining life. We have designed FRP seawater systems for an anticipated life of 50 years, in diameters up to 10 feet (3 m).

FRP is the material of choice for desalination and seawater systems when used with a proven plan for success such as Maverick’s:
